This was shot on polaroid peel-apart film (hence the sort of dirty look).

And this one was shot on my Hasselblad, on Tri-X film. Missed focus a smidge but still love the shot.

Best Birthday Present Evar.

This lovely brunette was turning 11 and wanted a real grownup photoshoot with her BFF for her birthday instead of a party. I’m happy they found me! It was neato shooting girls so young and unaffected. They were little sweethearts, I have never been thanked so many times after a shoot wrapped.

Sometimes when I do creatives I am singling out new techniques and hammering them down. I’ve worked with gels before…. and I don’t know if I’ll ever be done experimenting with them. They are fun, and totally counter-intuitive to work with. There were a few happy accidents/breakthroughs on this shoot.

I love Alexandra. She comes in looking all unassuming and then gets some makeup and direction — from there she transforms. Total magic, this girl is a muse through and through.
