Come to my studio December 10th, 6pm to 10pm to check out my newest creations.
In these works I’ve let go of the struggle for technical perfection and just let myself interact with my subjects without boundaries or technical constraint. These images have a soft, painterly feel and a lush palette of colors.
Everyone is welcome to come by and say hello. These works are available for purchase.
Thank You!

Jessica & Scott were the first ever couple to tie the knot at the Olympic Plaza in downtown Calgary. The wildlife in the area was amusing and the ceremony was dead gorgeous. Such a fun day with a sweet, sweet couple. The reception was held at Escoba Bistro — the food and drink was amazing, and the venue itself was stunning!
Onto the pictures.

Thank you to Savour for letting us in their window! And thanks for selling my husband that lovely mustard. He is King Foodie these days :D

Mike and Michelle’s Wedding was a visual feast to say the least. These two are so sweet and so in love – I felt really lucky to get to spend the day photographing their wedding.
They were married here in Calgary at the Wild Rose United Church and had their reception at the Shawnessy Barn, which for the record, I did not know existed!
They are now on their honeymoon, doing a crazy roadtrip through the US, checking out all the randomness that they can squeeze in. I think they are on rollercoasters now? Very fun. I’ve totally been lurking their blog.
This wedding has totally been featured on Rock N’ Roll Bride. Very Cool. :)
Anyhoo, onto the pictures!

Sometimes when I do creatives I am singling out new techniques and hammering them down. I’ve worked with gels before…. and I don’t know if I’ll ever be done experimenting with them. They are fun, and totally counter-intuitive to work with. There were a few happy accidents/breakthroughs on this shoot.
I love Alexandra. She comes in looking all unassuming and then gets some makeup and direction — from there she transforms. Total magic, this girl is a muse through and through.

Oh hi guys! I can’t remember ever giggling so much during an engagement session. Way too fun.

Playing in pee soaked gravel has never been so fun.

Who Scott reminds me of in that picture:

Lindsey found me totally by accident. She was looking to get married in New York City, so naturally Google led her to my page. We had great email chats for awhile, until she realized that I wasn’t a New York local! Flying me out there was not in the cards, unfortunately – Lindsey said she was super bummered out about the situation, but that she would think of me in the future. Well, life happened, and Lindsey & Regan decided a low key affair in Banff would be better. So bam! There I was.
A luscious affair at the Banff Springs Hotel, the day was perfect, except of course for the massive thunderstorm that chased us (soaking wet) out of our first location. We came back to the Hotel and received great hospitality – the concierge pressed Regan’s suit for him superfast and we were off to the races again.
Here are a few of my favorites from the day, enjoy :)

Suprise visit from Mom & Sister who came from across the country to be present.

I love Lindsey’s look here. This was sometime in the middle of the longest bridal march in history. I swear. It went on and on – he would hit a long note, everyone would hold their breath expecting it to be over, but it plodded on, and on, and on. It was great.

So we just got done our set of family photos at the highschool in Banff, and there is this huge pack of kids. I somehow mobilized them into a semi circle and got them to jump up and down and act dumb (that part wasn’t hard!). Totally random and very fun.

Sometimes, the pictures of couples waiting to have their photo taken are the most compelling :)

I was absolutely thrilled to shoot these images with Lindsey. She has such an incredible sense of style, and was so much fun to spend the evening with.
Her gown was custom designed by none other than Paul Hardy (he is right here in Calgary most of the time), with hair and makeup by Noleen at Ginger Group (which is coincidentally less than a block from my studio. Did I mention that Noleen has been cutting my husbands families’ hair for ages? Small world!)

She makes everyone fall in love with her – true story. This is how she makes me feel inside…
Oh yes, she does weddings ;) Her website is at OlgaOnulov.com
Michelle from Trisko Talent smoulders in my mother’s backyard; photos by myself. Make-up: Miss Olga Onulov.

Drove with Michelle and Mike out to Queenstown, Alberta to create some big, killer engagement shots. On the trip I learned that Michelle and I are basically the same person. Haha! Seriously though, it was creepy in a ’separated at birth’ kind of way. ;)
We were feeling it! Inspired by Tarantino.

Our Rock N Roll engagement was featured on Rock N’ Roll Bride! How awesome!
